Google Places has launched a hybrid called Boost: Part-Local, Part-Adwords.
Just when you thought Google Adwords has taken all the market it could possibly get – it now gets better.
Nearly every business in the world has a Google Places account (if you don’t, you should – it’s free). This allows your business to appear on Google, next to a map when someone types a “business type” with a “location” (like, Brisbane Japanese Restaurant).
There has never been a way (or understanding) as to why some of your local competitors ranked above you – until now.
When boost rolls out to all locations, it will provide you with the opportunity to pay your way to the top, and not only appear on the map, but above and to the right in the Sponsored Links section.
This comes as Facebook Places-based advertising is generating a huge amount of press. Direct attack? We think so.
If Adwords takes your fancy, this one might be for you.
